Power Colors?
People misunderstand power colors. Red is considered an assertive color, however, if the red you choose to wear is more dominant that your personal coloring, it is no longer assertive – but overpowering. On the left, Mr. Trump’s bright red tie draws more attention than he does, as it’s far too bright for his coloring. On the right, a darker red in harmony with his skin tone brings sophistication and elegance to his appearance. The same principle applies to the black suit, which is also too strong for his coloring. Notice how you see Mr. Trump as a unified whole on the right, and broken up into discordant parts on the left. Yet another example of how the right choice of color can create a powerful and charismatic appearance.
